Green Gown Awards

The EAUC held the 2016 Green Gown Awards last night at Athena. Over 380 guests descended upon Athena in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter for the first time in the events history.

The venues management and catering team worked with event organisers to create a bespoke, Soil Association gold mark accredited menu for the dinner which celebrates environmental and sustainability projects in colleges and universities throughout the United Kingdom.

Guests attended from as far afield as Aberdeen, Plymouth and Limerick. The prestigious awards ceremony started with a drinks reception before guests enjoyed a three-course meal accompanied with a selection of European wines and beers. Natural beeswax candles were sourced as one of the elegant finishing touches to the room, and table numbers were handmade by local university students using reclaimed and upcycled materials.

The EAUC commented:

“We wish to thank all involved in tonight’s event, in particular Gary Sands, Head Chef, and Hira Ram, Events Manager, and Kezia Roper Sales Manager, and her team for working together on this great achievement and ensuring our event runs smoothly.”

University of Leicester one of the main supporters of the event, thanked the venue and said “Staff were attentive and patient and showed our guests why Leicester is great”
